Google Adsense Best Performing Ad Banner Size

Generally the Google Adsense Team would recommend you to use a 300×250 Ad Slot because most of the advertisers submit ads in that standard size and this is the reason you should try to implement atleast one of these ad size. Generally its preferred to use this one on the blog’s top sidebar or else below the article, since this is a ad spot which would get direct visitors.

Increase Google Adsense Income
Implementing Google Custom Search box is also another effective way to make money because not only it searches for the best search results, you can even show advertisements within the search results either in the top, sidebar or the bottom based on your theme. You can implement upto 2 search boxes on your blog, on in the top right side or the center and one in the bottom of your blog posts which can be easily accessible by your readers. You should try out the changes by removing the default blog search with Adsense custom search along with different placements.

If your visitors count keeps changing in the weekend then you can try out different stuff like keeping less ads on low traffic days and if you see a spike in the traffic you can go for higher ad slots, also its recommended to go for randomizing ad colors for higher CTR. If you have a colored background of your blog theme, then try to keep the same background for the advertisements so they could look better and you can expect higher CTR.

Some people report that using a 728×90 ad slot works awesome for them when compared to 468×60 but the actual answer is that it depends on your blog design, navigation, width, readers and lot more stuff which is why experimenting the different ad sizes is really important rather than just opting which others recommend.

For Experimenting & Analyzing :
- Record current performance
- Make distinct changes
- Monitor for a set time frame
- Compare performance
*repeat*

Dont forget to implement heatmaps in order to find out the most clicked areas of your blog and implement the advertisements in those areas for higher number of clicks along with section targeting.

How to Get Google Adsense Account Approval

First of all let me make you clear that you should never apply for a Google Adsense Account for your friends or known people because its them who should be doing it. Also the application Page would even record your IP address, hence to be on safe side always recommend the person who is looking to get a Adsense Account to apply for the same themselves. Lets go the current rules for the application of your new account as per Google Guidelines :

Unacceptable site content: In order to participate in Google AdSense,
publishers’ websites and application information must satisfy the
following guidelines:

1. Your website must be your own top-level domain (www.example.com and not http://www.example.com/mysite).
This means that you should be applying for a Google Adsense Account with your Root Domain Name and not from a Sub Folder. You can also apply from Sub Domains like blogspot.com or blog.com which offer you free blog services. Make sure that you apply from your main website and not from a new blog because a established website has more chances of application approval.

2. Your domain must have been registered and active for at least 6 months before you apply for AdSense.
As previously mentioned, the service requires you to apply from a established website rather than a new one because a new blogger or website owner is not going to make any good amount of money in the initial stage and recently we have seen many fraud account holders who opt for wrong tactics in getting clicks and making money.

3. You must provide accurate personal information with your application that matches the information on your domain registration.
This requirement is important because in this case the Adsense Team can verify the ownership of the Domain Name through which you are applying for a new Account. I have come through many fraudsters who even have applied for a Google Adsense Account by entering my website URL in the application process but were rejected because of the Whois Information.

4. Your website must contain substantial, original content.
This is a very obvious point because unless a website have Original Content, it wont be making any good amount of money. Not only counting the money part but posting Duplicate Content is totally wrong and is not allowed, hence if someone applies for a new Publisher Account for a website with copied content then it would be rejected.

5. Your site must comply with Google AdSense program policies.
There are multiple Google Adsense Policies which have to be perfectly implemented and made sure you dont break any of them. The most important of which is not posting advertisements on pages which have Illegal Content.

If you have made sure that you have taken case of all the above listed points and still not able to get a new account then there are some ways you can get it. This is by applying for a Google Adsense Account through different services like Google Knol, Hub Pages, Blogger Blogs or most major Blogging Services etc. Let us know if you have any other ideas for other upcoming publishers who are looking for a new Adsense Account.

Clicked own Adsense Ads by Accident

Never panic when you have done something by mistake because in a hurry you would do more wrong acts and move yourself into a deeper hole, better try to search for more ways or decisions which can be helpful to you and your life. In this case, there have been hundreds of related topics on different websites / forums on the web which have answers to this question. If you have clicked on your Google Adsense Ad wantedly to make a few extra dollars in your account, then you are surely doing a wrong act which would be punishable by Google in the form of canceling or deactivating your Adsense Account. In this case you need to first read this article by the Google Official Adsense Blog which talks about the accidents which can happen in your normal life.

In that specific article Google Adsense Team says that the program policies does not allow any of their Publisher to click on their own Adsense Ads but there are many situations under which the publishers would have clicked on their own ads by mistake and its expected that these mistakes don’t happen regularly because if you click once, you are most probably going to work more seriously and take maximum care to avoid own advertisement clicks. Since all the account activity is monitored thoroughly and carefully, Google would automatically these clicks and would discount them which means that Google wont be crediting your account for these clicks, hence saving the Adwords Advertisers money too.

Only when Google finds that the publisher has been continuously been clicking on his own ads in order to increase his revenue, his account is banned and the publisher is no longer allowed to be a member of Adsense.

People click on Ads to find the Advertiser : There have also been situations where in many Publishers would click on their own advertisements to find out who the advertiser is and what kind of ads would be shown on their website, but directly clicking on self ads is a big mistake which has to be avoided. Hence, the publishers have to check out tools like Adsense Sandbox where in you just have to either enter your blog’s niche keywords or else the URL and get a report with all the advertisers whose advertisements would most probably appear on your blog.

Prevent Ads Clicking : Another useful way to prevent ads clicking is by installing Firefox Add-ons like ABP – Ad Block Plus which is a free addon which would disable most of the advertisements when you access any website. Hence you can disable advertisements only for your website while you are viewing it, while its enabled for others. This tool is seriously much useful because some free file sharing websites and entertainment related websites are full of ads and somethings which cannot be opened in public, and the addon would just disable all this stuff and keep you secure too.

If you are still not satisfied with this, you can submit this form and notify Google with the URL where you had clicked on the advertisement, approx time, Reason why the click was made like accident, testing ad, mistake etc. In case of Click Bombs where in you feel some jealous guy or a competitor is clicking on your ads, you can even send your traffic stats with IP of recent visitors etc.

Increase Adsense Earnings – Upgrade to Text and Image ads

excellent tip from the Google Adsense Team for the Publishers who have selected Text Ads as the default style of ‘Ad Display Preference’. Following this you need to select ‘Display text and image ads in all ad units’ under the My Account > Account Settings Section. This can be considered as another way to Increase Adsense Income along with the Google Adsense FAQ which was written for our valuable readers who are looking for Adsense Tips.

We would like to tell you about a minor change you can make, which can have a major impact on your AdSense revenue; opting in to text and image ads. Recently, some AdSense publishers have experienced a significant revenue increase after making this change. Opting into text and image ads increases competition among the ads competing to appear on your site, as both text and rich media ads (image, flash and video) will compete in the ad auction. We will then automatically display the ads which will yield the highest earnings for you.

With increased advertiser spend on placement-targeted advertising, enabling image ads means you are also competing for these extra dollars. You can use the Ad Review Centre (ARC) to review the ads placement-targeted to your site. If you decide to opt into text and image ads, there are 2 steps we would ask you to take. Under the AdSense Setup tab, go to Manage Ads and edit each existing AdSense unit to display ‘Text and image ads’. Then, under your My Account tab, make sure that your Ad Type Preference is set to ‘Display text and image ads in all ad units’. We are confident that this simple change can positively impact your revenue potential, so we highly recommend that you see how it can work for you.

Wishing you every success with AdSense,

Google AdSense for Search Tips

Here at AdSense we love AdSense for Search (AFS). It combines our favourite Google products – AdSense and Search! We want to tell you why now is the time to implement this feature. From Google Adsense Optimisation Team, AFS allows you to:

* Improve the user experience: When users can’t find what they’re looking for on a site, they turn to search. By offering one or two AFS boxes on each of your pages, you can help the user find what they’re looking for without them having to leave your site. You can choose the content your users can search – just parts of your site, your entire site, a network of sites you choose, or the entire web! You can even have one box for just your site, and another for the web. You can customise the search box, your search results page and your ad implementation, and you can even add keywords to tailor the results and ads to your content!

* Retain the user: With site search and the option to open search results directly in your own page, you can keep the user on your site for longer.

* Monetise the inevitable exit from your site: Users leave your site eventually. Accepting this is sometimes tough, but knowing they can find what they’re looking for via your search boxes is some consolation, and earning when they click on the targeted ads on your search results pages definitely eases the pain!

How many of you have implemented the Adsense Search Box on your website and how is the overall performance of the same?

Google AdSense Disabled Accounts, why ?

To many other it’s not as shocking. People who have tried to outsmart Google and find loopholes in Adsense often make a quick few bucks but Big G always catches up and how! Although a book could be written on how people without any quality website or with third world traffic (from North Africa, India, China) make thousand dollars every day in Adsense, this article will just highlight prominent reasons why AdSense accounts are disabled.

Made For Adsense :  this is the biggest reason nowadays why Google disables Adsense accounts. People with no intention of building a quality website often create websites with content copy-pasted from Wikipedia or Other websites. They are not interested in providing any ORIGINAL content. MFA sites are usually 5 – 10 posts long and with Adsense codes pasted all over the pages. Whenever someone opens such a site, all one sees is clickable Adsense ads with little or no content. Such sites have very CTR (click through rate), often 5 or 7 out of every 10 visitors click on an Ad. If you have cheap or free traffic, you can make Serious Money that way. Google knows this and disables every MFA site it comes across.

Click Fraud : This is the dumbest way to get your Adsense account disabled. Google tracks every click made on every ad across its network. It knows if Ads are being clicked intentionally or normally. Clicking on your ads at home or taking a trip to your local cafe to do the same is the sure shot way to Disablement.

Also, joining Adsense click exchange groups (I click your ads, you click mine) is not the way to earn money online. Asking your friends to click on your ads or paying them money to do it is only going to get your Adsense account in danger. Google has developed algorithms far too sophisticated to be outsmarted by any of these monkey-business strategies. Your best bet is the hard way of making money.

Original content + Great site = Traffic = $$$

Arbitrage : Until recently this technique made millions for people doing it. People buy traffic from Adwords or YSM or MSN Ad central and guide it to pages laden with Adsense. They bid on cheap words like wallpapers, video etc with every click costing them a few cents. Keeping content to a minimal usually is the key ingredient here as more irrelevant or lesser the content, higher will be the CTR. This model works only with high CTR, usually no less than 20 % is what makes you money in Arbitrage.

An example – For every click Cost = 2 cents, income from every click = 50 cents to a dollar. With CTR of just 20% and 50 cents income, figure for 10,000 visitors are
Income on 2000 clicks @50 cents = $1000.00
Cost of 10,000 visitors @2 cents = $200.00
Net profit = $ 800.00

Google also knows this and has quite clearly said in its program policies that Arbitrage sites are not acceptable. There is quite a risk here as you might end up paying for your traffic and then get your account disabled without getting any unpaid income.

Violation of Terms and Conditions : Your AdSense account is the danger of being disabled if you have altered the AdSense codes so that Ads are placed in pop-ups, emails or software, Ads open up in a new window.

If you buy traffic, your landing page should be in compliance with Google’s Landing Page Guidelines. Any violation could get your account disabled. Also, if your site is found out to contain Malware or virus or initiates download automatically, your AdSense account is in danger.

Adsense Check Our Domain Age for Approval

Speaking on this issue Google Adsense Team said that they to impose such rules to ensure the quality of their advertising network and to protect the interests of advertisers & publishers Adsense has to impose domain age qualifications for the fresh applications and this doesn’t mean that new publishers are not accepted.

So what is Domain Age Qualifications? Indian publishers who want to sign up for Adsense in order to have an Adsense account has to pass the domain age qualifications i.e., you site or blog should be older than atleast 6 months and that is not all your blog should have enough content which is unique.

Yes, Google Adsense is accepting new sites/blog which are 6 months old but you should write your own unique content. If your content is copied from Wikipedia or Ezinearticles or some other sources found on Internet then its a duplicated content and forget about Adsense is such cases.

And also Blogspot blogs are also acceptable for the new applications but the above criteria for the new applications is also applicable for blogspot blog.

One can easily say that these rules were imposed in order to avoid fraudalent activities in India and some of the other Asian countries. In India we have often seen people buying and selling Adsense account, renting Adsense Accounts and much above them fraudalent and invalid clicks. You can buy an Adsense account for Rs 500 and that too buy bulk get discount. I don’t know how far its working but I am sure that this is not the way to get an Adsense account.

By seeing such activities one can easily predict that Adsense team might come up with more strict rules for the Indian publishers. I hope publishers from India understand this and put work in a legal way.

How to Avoid Google Adsense Account Ban – Disabled Warning

Every month thousands of Google Adsense publishers are banned and there are always rumors all around the web saying that Google has a policy of disabling the accounts randomly. Now lets get into this issue in detail and find out whats the truth behind this and know some real facts which most people have no idea about.

Fiction : Google Adsense bans publishers randomly when they find a minor problem.
Real Fact : Google makes on an average of 32% of revenue from the amount they earn from their advertisers while the balance 68% is shared with us the Adsense Publishers. Now lets say if you as a publisher make atleast 10$/day in revenue this comes to somewhere around 3650$ in a years time. When Google is going to pay you 3650$ they would have already made around 1600$ through the advertisements you have served on your website. Hence there is no point Google is running some script to randomly disable accounts because their main business runs only because both Adwords advertisers believe the network and the Adsense publishers run the ads perfectly.

Let me share with you few things which can make sure that your Adsense account is not banned and you enjoy a good life with checks coming up from the Google Team.

* Place Advertisements in Right Places : There is no point is placing the ad banners at locations which can get you clicks because your visitors would find them as normal links and not ads. This could obviously lead to a higher CTR but when the visitor visits the advertisers website they would quickly press the back button to find more relevant stuff and this is one way the Adwords advertiser would not be getting the results what they were expecting for. Tricking the Visitors is not a smart idea, there are many bloggers and website owners who use dark colored themes and use adsense just below the titles of download links, free resources, free stuff which would make the visitors to click on the advertisements making the whole system useless for advertisers.
* Ads on sites that contain prohibited content : As a advertiser i wont be happy if my website is advertised on a blog which has adult or mature content. While my target is to get sales out of the advertisements published through Adwords system, if the ads are displayed on a non family friendly site, its better to opt for another advertising network. This is what happens all of time which is the reason Google has imposed a few rules, terms and conditions for Adsense Publishers to stop displaying ads on the adult or mature content, gambling-related content, or drug content. If the ads are placed by mistake, Google would notify you about the same and you should remove them asap.
* Customize or Modify Adsense Code with css or Javascript : There are many Adsense publishers who keep looking for different ways to edit the ad codes which are offered through the Publisher section. This is because they want to make sure that the ads look similar to what the Premium Publishers get, but since this feature is allowed only to the Premium Publishers there is no point in even thinking about modifying the ad code because this could lead to a quicker Ban of the complete account. You are allowed only to change the font, color, size etc only through the publisher panel and no other options are technically allowed which if done would be against the TOS.
* Referring Sites : It is very important that you should implement legit ways to get visitors to your website. Websites which get traffic through Pay Per View, Paid to Click (PTC), Adult Sites, Popup Ads are directly in voilation to the TOS and these kind of promotion is not allowed. You should also not indulge in Adsense Adwords Arbitrage because that can also get your account banned.
* Clicking Own Ads : There would be a thousand of reasons or excuses made by Publishers when they click on their own ads like – I was testing a interesting advertisement, i was testing if am getting paid for a specific ad, i wanted to find the revenue made through some ads, i was testing adsense format, testing adsense section targeting which are all actually not allowed. This is because the click you have made on the advertisement is not going to help the advertiser in any way and this is the very reason its always recommended to avoid viewing or clicking on your own ads.
* Do not Beg for Clicks : Many google adsense publishers have a habit of begging for clicks on message boards, instant messengers, chat rooms, social networking websites etc. They even indulge in click exchange programs where in they click on others ads on a daily basis and the other people in these groups click back. This is to make sure that the accounts reach a minimum payment amount of 100$ and then they can continue the same with another account. All of these scamming tactics have made Google to make the Account Approval Process more strict by adding new rules of 6 months old domain and domain ownership if not the account will be rejected. There is no point in asking others to click on google ads because you could earn a lot more if you go the legal way by getting real visitors to your website.

Fix WordPress 3.0 Images Error

WordPress 3.0 CMS is just awesome with the loaded features and amazing stuff which were added in this new version. The backend ie the WordPress Dashboard located at Wp-Admin now loads faster and has better color theme. Except all of this stuff there is only 1 feature which i seriously hate because it made me loose severals hours finding out a fix for the bug. The Bug was actually with Images which were uploaded using the Upload Media option, which was not displaying Images within the blog posts and when i contacted my host and the server techie they too had a hard time finding a solution for this.

WordPress 3.0 CMS LogoWordPress Founder ‘Matt Mullenweg‘ wrote a code which would make sure that the word WordPress would be replaced with WordPress because he wants the former word to be eliminated from the planet. The code automatically implements the changes in the Blog content, the post title, and comment text section and replace everything if there is a change found. If you have a Image on your blog with the name ‘WordPress-Logo.png’, then it would be automatically replaced if you upgraded your copy to ‘WordPress-Logo.png’ making the image disappear from the blog posts because the original URL is unchanged and its different from what is being served in the blog post, breaking the article.

One solution for this would be to either change all the URL’s in your media folder for the Images to make sure that you implemented the Capital P in all the file names. A better option WordPress should have implemented in that this feature should have been implemented only in the posts which are written or published after the 3.0 upgrade but by default its implemented on the whole blog content because of which everything gets broken without a fix.

Another solution would be installing a WordPress Plugin called as ‘Remove WordPress to WordPress filter’ which can be downloaded from here, which would replace the new changes and functions implemented in the blog. Even though this kind of fix is going to be a temporary one but there is no other option available except either implementing a manual change in the URL’s of the Images or else continuing with this WordPress plugin.
There should have been a better fix available for the WordPress users because automatically changing this way is going to give everyone a lot of time waste and all of this burden just for converting the “WordPress” to “WordPress”.

PS : Make sure that from now on you don’t call this Blogging CMS WordPress, Word Press, wordPress, WORDPRESS, or WoRdPrEsS because its WordPress!

How to Setup WordPress 3 Multi User Blog

WordPress 3.0 offers with the Mu system inbuilt and there is no need to download and install the wordpress mu script because you just need to set some settings and the blog is ready. Just upgrade your current WordPress blog to the latest version and then make sure you are logged into the Dashboard & Ftp to get started.

First access the wp-config.php file and then add the following line of code in the file. You can place it just before this line which can be found almost at the end of the wp-config file. ‘/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */’. Once this is done you will find a new option under the Tools panel under the Wp-Admin section.

define (‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true ) ;
