Many websites and blogs uses image as well as content protection technologies to keep away frauds,copycats and clones. Popular social site orkut.com recently disabled right click on user albums due to the privacy related issues .Though its very easy to bypass this and save photos ,it created much irritation among public . Even profile owners or friends were blocked from downloading images .
Few months back I experienced the same problem while copying photos from Flickr.com . Although there was no problem with right click, the saved image was corrupted. Actually this trick to save the copy protected imagesis a Mozilla Firefox hack so the essentially you need the same.This technique can be used to copy and save orkut profile and album photos .
See it will be shown like this when you try to save an image from Flickr or Orkut (profile photo), but keep in mind that all images are not copyright protected .
If its appears that the name of image is spaceball” then it is protected . They allow you to save the image but it will be visible when clicked on.
Now just follow the simple procedure to save Orkut album and profile photos .
Open the target Orkut album or profile . Right click anywhere on the page( not photo ) and select view page info .
Now a new window appears as as shown below and select media
Using mouse , browse down and find out the image you want to save by seeing the preview.
Find out the image and then copy the link location by right clicking on it .
Open a new browser window , paste the copied image location and hit enter .
Now the image appears in a form that could be easily saved .
Updated : Other methods to save locked Orkut album and profile photos .
1 .Save Orkut photos by dragging target photo to the URL box ( Firefox , Opera and IE 7 ) and save.
2. Disable browser JavaScript functionality to save orkut photos .
In Firefox , Go to Tools > Options> Content > remove enable JavaScript .Now you would be able to save photos from any copy protected webpages including Orkut and Flickr .
